November 11th 1918 is a date to remember by many as the day that the conflict of WW1 ended. World war one was the worst war the world had seen in that time as the first war on a global scale that became industrialized. It is a day remembered by Canadians as the day to thank the Veterans for their hard ship and sacrifices to protect their nation when it called. The Poppy is also associated with this event from the poem in Flanders fields written in the time of the conflict. it is also to remember those who also gave their life's in world war 2. In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

The 5th of November is commonly to this day referred to a movie based on a modern Revolution in England. The movie is called V for Vendetta. But in History the Gunpowder Plot as it was called happened in the year of 1605 when Robert Catesby led a plot to assassinate king James the first of England and blow up the house of the Lords. the Plot failed after an anonymous letter was sent to the authorities revealing the details of the event that would have taken place on the 5th of November. the letter was sent on October the 25th of 1605.
after the letter they traveled to the house of the lord to do a sweep of the area and found Fawkes guarding 36 barrels of gunpowder. after he was arrested many of those involved in the plot fled London in fear of being arrested themselves. some even stayed and stood against the sheriff of Worcester and failed and in that moment Robert Catesby was shot and killed after this event a trial was held on January 27th 1606 were he and 7 others were hanged, drawn and quartered. many years later the gunpowder treason was held at sermons and many public gatherings and even a poem was written of the plot. Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!
